CASCON x EVOKE November 2021 - Building Kubernetes Operators in the Wild - going beyond just install and upgrade

With the move to multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud delivery models, many organizations are looking at OpenShift as a platform to simplify this requirement. A key part of using OpenShift as a platform is the use of operators as part of the solution. While there are many tutorials and examples of basic operators, what is it like to build a real-world operator that does more than just install & upgrade - i.e. beyond what is called Day-1 usage? How does the operator approach compare to more traditional mechanisms, such as Helm, scripting etc. In this workshop, you will learn how to build a real Day-2 example of an operator - and most importantly what the pros and cons are for using this technology. After this talk, you should have a better idea of how to approach your own Day-2 functionality.
